So many of my students, friends and family have joined the conversation on Twitter I thought I would finally post this video. If you have been using Twitter for a while you may have already seen this but I think it is worth watching again if not only to evaluate the interesting perspective and how things have changed and stayed the same since August of 2008. Yes, I know it was created for humorous reasons but, as a friend used to always tell me, inside every joke is an element of truth.
Two things: First, there is one scene of adult language. If you don’t like that, don’t watch. Second, back when this originally posted on CrunchGear there were always issues with Twitter being down. When this happened Twitter would put the Fail Whale on their front page. It happened so often many wondered if the term Fail Whale would become a verb.
The issue of Twitter being down doesn’t seem to be much of an issue these days. However, I still like the video simply for the observations about how people use this tool as well as other social media sites. Hitler obviously is an extreme user but don’t we all know someone who might fit the bill. Or perhaps you should simply use this as a source of warning to not become too engaged/engulfed in Twitter.
So, watch and share your thoughts (feel free to use more than 140 characters). Do you have the same perspective of Twitter? Know anyone who loves Twitter just a little too much? Has anything changed since 08/08? Would the world be different without Twitter?
